Work, Labour and Wages – Is your 9 to 5 job part of God’s plan? – Part 3

Work, Labour and Wages – Is your 9 to 5 job part of God’s plan? – Part 3

At times especially in this economic climate it can seem that we are running on the hamster wheel and never accomplishing much. We pick up in the morning where we left of the day before and the work just keeps coming, always piling up, but there never seems to be an end. The era of a sea of office cubicals, manufacturing assembly lines and the like seem to go on forever. At times we may ask ourselves; Is this what life is all about? Why am I doing this job? Is there a greater purpose behind our daily work, or are we just grinding away until we go back to the place we came from? This week we will talk about our daily work and how it fits into the bigger plan, using the Bible as the go to reference book of choice…cont’d.

Just like everything else in life, we go through changes in our work environment. It does not necessarily mean we leave a specific company. It may be as easy as a promotion or demotion to a different job more fitting to our goals at that point in time of our lives (Ecclesiastes 3:1). This could also include leaving a company altogether for another job opportunity, but nevertheless, change is good (Joshua 1:9). So if you are feeling restless at your current position ask yourself and do some praying about what may be a solution to that problem. It may be as easy a solution as changing your work environment, like listening to a music station or taking some mid-day break for meditation or “nap” time. But the point is, even those little breaks can really make a positive change in the day to day stresses that come at us from our work environment.

More to come…
