Jesus loves the world

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). John 17:2 says, “As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.” (John 17:2). I believe that Jesus has been given everyone and has given eternal life to everyone based on John 17:2. Jesus came to earth, conceived by the Holy Ghost, in the virgin, Mary, born of the virgin, Mary, espoused to Joseph (Matt. 1:18-25). He had brothers and sisters (Mark 6:3). He started His earthly ministry at about the age of thirty (Luke 3:23). And for three and a half years, He healed, did miracles, and forgave sins. And at Passover in 31 A.D., Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, He was buried, and the third day He arose to give us the hope and promise of eternal life in His Holy name. Alleluia and praise the LORD. Amen and Amen.

Forgiveness, Sacrifice, Sin – Part 3

Forgiveness, Sacrifice, Sin – Are we worthy of Eternal life? – Part 3

The question is so simple, and yet the answer to it could arguably be considered the most important one required in all of human history. Amongst other things in our day to day lives, in business, education and religion we are constantly considering what we are doing here on earth. Although often we are only concentrating on the “task at hand”, there are times where we have time to think and even situations that beg the question. Is there something after this life? This week I will tackle the simple question of is there Life after Death using the Bible as the go to reference book of choice…cont’d.

So the question is; are we worthy of eternal life? And really the answer is; it does not really matter, because the all-knowing, loving Creator gives it to us freely. As the Bible says, “…freely you have received…” (Matt. 10:8). There is nothing we can do in order to receive it, other than accept it. God gives it to us. Just accept it and that is the end of it. Ephesians 2:8 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God”! So if you are stumbling on your walk with God and in relationship with Christ through the Holy Spirit, stop and think about it. Am I worthy, and consider, God must think so… But pray and ask, and “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7).

However we fell (Genesis 3:6, 7). Sin separated us from the Eternal Covenant of life we could have had with God had we ate from the tree of Life (Genesis 2:17). And now we sit at the crossroads that has plagued mankind for over the last 5000 plus years. The good news is that Christ fixed that fall through His sacrifice, with a promise to all mankind through His resurrection (Romans 5:18)!

In order to understand the concept of another life we must first understand where we came from. Genesis 1 answers this question of where we came from. And the simple answer is from the “dust” (Genesis 2:7). Of course there are longer explanations, and other scenarios out in the world, like evolution, but really, they are all the same in the end. We came from the earth. The key to our life though is that “God breathed life into us”! This is the beginning of our life as we know it. At the beginning, God must have deemed us worthy of life or else He would not have given it to us. He created us in His image (Genesis 1:27)!
