Repent and be forgiven your sins in Jesus Christ’s name

Jesus said in Luke 24:46 and 47, “And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” (Luke 24:46, 47). Jesus came to earth, conceived by the Holy Ghost, in the virgin, Mary, born of the virgin, Mary, espoused to Joseph (Matt. 1:18-25). He had brothers and sisters (Mark 6:3). He started His earthly ministry at about the age of thirty (Luke 3:23). And for three and a half years, He healed, did miracles, and forgave sins. And at Passover in 31 A.D., Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, He was buried, and the third day He arose to give us the hope and promise of eternal life in His Holy name. Alleluia and praise the LORD. Amen and Amen.

Freedom from the law of sin and death

The apostle Paul said, “…the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” (Gal. 5:22, 23). Jesus gave us freedom from the law of sin and death, to follow the law of life in Jesus Christ (Rom. 8:2). Jesus came to earth, conceived by the Holy Ghost, in the virgin, Mary, born of the virgin, Mary, espoused to Joseph (Matt. 1:18-25). He had brothers and sisters (Mark 6:3). If a man dies shall he live again? – Part 3

If a man dies shall he live again? – Part 3

Job, David and many others in history have wondered whether or not there is life after death. Of course understanding that there is a God is a good start to believing that it is even possible, but nevertheless. The struggle with our mortality has been documented by many in the stories of the lives of the people of the God of the Bible. If a man dies shall he live again? Is probably one of if not the most important question a human being can ask themselves in this lifetime. This week I will talk about the question and answers using the Bible as the go to reference book of choice…cont’d.

We need to have these same or similar experiences for God to truly reveal himself to us so that we do indeed recognize that He is here with us. The New Testament admonishes us to repent, or “anoint our eyes”, etc. (Acts 3:19, Rev. 3:18) But we need to change, mentally and physically in order to see God and experience Him and this life as it was meant to be experienced from the beginning (Gen. 1:31). God loves us and He sent Jesus Christ to us for this very reason. Jesus opened up the eyes of many and continues to do so today through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, who can and will teach us all things (Luke 4:18, John 9:39, 14:26). He died on the cross for our sins and was resurrected to give us the hope of the resurrection of our own bodies when it comes time for our resurrection after our natural death or our final change, if He returns to take us where he is while we are still alive here on earth (John 14:1-6)! What a great God we serve with His Son, Jesus Christ. He said, “And whosoever lives and believeth in me shall never die. Believe you this?” (John 11:26). We have hope in His resurrection and Hope in His words. There is hope, faith and love! And the greatest is love (1 Cor. 13:13)!

Job goes on after some rebuke from his friends and says, “…I know my redeemer lives, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: …though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.” (Job 19:25-27). It is interesting that by the end of Jobs trial God did indeed reveal himself to Job, he said, “I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye sees you. Wherefore I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes.” (Job 42:5, 6). Although Job may have been prophesying in part of Jesus Christ and the final resurrection, he did indeed admit that God revealed himself to him. And He can and will do the same for us, as I know He has and does. Job had faith early on that he would see God and God revealed himself to Job even before his natural death. Job was being “converted” so to speak in this story right before our very eyes. Job’s faith was transforming him from a carnal human being to a spirit driven child of God!

Job was the man whom asked the question, “If a man dies shall he live again?” (Job 14:14). Funny enough he answers his own question if not completely at least partially in the same dialogue. He says, “all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.” One might ask what change is he talking about? Well the New Testament talks about this change in a few places, one of the most popular being, in 1 Cor.  15:51-53 it says, “Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” These are talking about the resurrection of the dead, and if we are alive when the final trump takes place, our change from mortal flesh to spirit beings in God’s eternal kingdom (Job 14:12)!

Evil, Sin and Redemption – Part 3

Evil, Sin and Redemption – How do we remove evil from the earth? – Part 3

It is amazing, the closer God draws me to Him and His ways, the more obvious and blatant evil has become to me, not only in this world, but in my life and personal circumstances as well. It is no small fall that man has had from what we were created to be before we chose to eat from the fruits of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:17). But can we get back to this state of “very good”? That is the question. This week I will talk about the topic of “removing” evil from this earth using the Bible as the go to reference book of choice…cont’d.

Last, the one prayer that Jesus suggested was written in a couple of the books of the New Testament. Amongst the things Jesus suggested we pray for was; “thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matt. 6:10 KJV). This is the key, we need to be seeking out God’s Kingdom, pressing towards the goal daily to experience it and find it (Matt. 7:7). There are multiple promises that God’s Kingdom would be established here on earth, and its seeds have already been planted in you and I through the Holy Spirit and Jesus’ testimony almost 2000 years ago. All we need to do is be patient, pray and give praise to God in our daily lives to experience His peace and prepare for His coming in all His glory!

Next, Ghandi had some encouraging words during his life time. He said, “Be the change you would like to see in the world”. This is the key; I have often heard that “If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem”. We need to constantly be looking at ourselves and reassessing our actions and habits we have in our daily lives, asking God to help us change any that are not producing the fruits that are pleasing to Him! This of course takes faith and requires that we start a relationship with our Creator in the first place. But once that is started you are off to the races!

It was not long ago I was worshipping God and an idea came to mind that this would be the way that evil would be cast from the earth. It seems like such a simple task to worship God, but it is a daily task and it can be done second by second wherever we are. One of the greatest forms of worship is undoubtedly gratitude, giving thanks, praising God! The challenge may lay in giving thanks in ALL circumstances, but once we learn to give thanks when we are in the very pit that we never asked or imagined we could ever get ourselves into then you have undoubtedly found Jesus Christ there (Proverbs 15:3, Psalm 34:18)!
