A mighty man is not delivered by his strength

Psalm 33:16 says, “There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.” (Ps. 33:16). Jesus came to earth, conceived by the Holy Ghost, in the virgin, Mary, born of the virgin, Mary, espoused to Joseph (Matt. 1:18-25). He had brothers and sisters (Mark 6:3). He started His earthly ministry at about the age of thirty (Luke 3:23). And for three and a half years, He healed, did miracles, and forgave sins. And at Passover in 31 A.D., Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, He was buried, and the third day He arose to give us the hope and promise of eternal life in His Holy name. Alleluia and praise the LORD. Amen and Amen.

The way of the LORD is strength

Proverbs 10:29 says, “The way of the Lord is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.” (Prov. 10:29).

For by strength shall no man prevail

1 Samuel 2:9 says, “He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.” (1 Sam. 2:9).

The joy of the Lord is your strength

Nehemiah 8:10 says, “Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Neh. 8:10). Alleluia and praise the LORD. Amen and Amen.

Jesus is our strength

Psalm 31:4 says, “Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.” (Ps. 31:4). Jesus came to earth, conceived by the Holy Ghost, in the virgin, Mary, born of the virgin, Mary, espoused to Joseph (Matt. 1:18-25). He had brothers and sisters (Mark 6:3). Strengths, Weaknesses, Identity – Part 3

Strengths, Weaknesses, Identity – What does it mean to be a true Christian? – Part 3

I’ll be the first to admit I am not the definition of perfection. But as a person who is seeking their identity here on earth what do we do to find it? The last days, months and years of my life have been a journey. First coming back to the Church of my youth after learning a great deal about the world around me and then learning what it really means to be part of the Church and a Christian. And I am sure this will be a lifelong journey at any rate. However, in this article I will talk about finding your identity here on earth, using the Bible as the go to reference book of choice…cont’d.

Last, regardless of strengths or weaknesses that we may have, our identity ought to be in Christ (Genesis 1:27). There are so many pulls in this world for us to develop our own identities, by clothing, music taste, the food you eat, the people you hang out with, etc. But really, if you build your life on the solid foundation of Christ, in one way, you can be and do everything (Philippians 4:13)! We are all given our own talents some more than others and also different, God is not looking for robots. We still have freedom of choice. But He is asking us to put our trust in Him first. He is asking us to let Him lead us in our lives here on earth, with Him and others. I have often heard that God is creating more of His children, in us through Christ (Galatians 3:26). Could we ask for anything more? God is our Father and Christ is our friend. We have a loving God who is building a family that will last for eternity! How would you like to be a part of that plan?

The world would have us believe that our weaknesses are not good. We ought to hide from them and hide them. Not talking about them at all, but many have mentioned and very openly their weaknesses in the Bible. Christ spoke to Paul in 2 Corinthians 13:9, and said “My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” And Paul goes on to say, “Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”! There are many more examples like this including many of the Psalms of David and Jeremiah’s Lamentations. The point is that Christ and God are our strength in our weaknesses. God allows us to have weaknesses so that He is glorified! As difficult as it is at times for our human minds to admit that we need others to live, especially God, it is necessary to maintain a holistic life!

Strengths, Weaknesses, Identity – What does it mean to be a true Christian? – Part 1

However, in this article I will talk about finding your identity here on earth, using the Bible as the go to reference book of choice.

First, let’s talk about our strengths. What do you think about when asked the question; what are your strengths? The list could be a very long one depending on what you define as strength. You could be physically strong, mentally strong, or be strong in different areas of life like caring for others or fixing problems. Superhero movies, books and T.V. shows seem to be as popular as ever today and I have no doubt that there are some that wish they could be like those they watch and read about in books. As I have in the past. There is nothing wrong in having a role model and even Christ said that as believers we would do much more than what He did during His ministry (John 14:12). Is it any wonder we have landed on the moon and have technologies that have made some portions of our daily lives easier and easier. But what does the Bible say about strength? Ephesians 6:10 says, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.”

Women of the Bible – Jael

Women of the Bible – Jael

This article is not to counteract the feminist movement, but to add to it from a biblical perspective. There are many women in the Bible who did heroic deeds for Israel as will be shown…cont’d.

We first spoke of Deborah, who was mentioned in Judges, Chapter 4. The next woman who we will talk about is mentioned, not only in the same chapter, but also in the same event.

Some background, her name was Jael, although she was not likely an Israelite, this section of the story will show you that God does not only work through His “chosen people”, meaning Israelites. There are people throughout the world, including women of course, that God has spoken through and speaks through. Open your eyes to some of the evangelists on T.V. and you will see that God is calling people from all colours and creeds. Nevertheless, Jael was likely a Canaanite (Strong’s # 3278), and her husband was a Kenite (Judges 4:17), both of which are not descendants of Abraham, but from other ancient tribes from after the flood (Genesis 15:19).

Now to the point, Jael was in her tent, she saw that Sisera, the commander of the army Deborah and Barak were chasing, was running near. She comforted him and said “Turn aside, my lord, turn aside to me; do not fear.” (Judges 4:18) After this she gave him some milk and covered him with a blanket, to rest. While he was asleep she picked up a tent peg and hammer and drove the peg through his head (Judges 4:19–21). Next, Barak showed up and Jael spoke to him to show him the demise of the commander Barak searched out to destroy (Judges 4:22).

Although this is not the most pleasant of stories spoken of in the Bible, it just goes to show the strength and courage God can and does put into women. I should say that this article is not meant to suggest that women should do these types of things. However, on a simply spiritual level it is a good story of the courage God is able to give to anyone!

Women of the Bible – Deborah

This article is not to counteract the feminist movement, but to add to it from a biblical perspective. There are many women in the Bible who did heroic deeds for Israel as will be shown…

The First woman we will talk about is Deborah, she is mentioned in Judges. She was a judge and prophetess of Israel and married (Judges 4:4)! She led the men of Israel into battle to defeat an enemy God had asked to be removed (Judges 4:9).

When she spoke with the army commander, Barak, he was hesitant (Judges 4:8). So she said, I will go with the army into battle, but you will not receive the honour (Judges 4:9)!

This is how God works, we are told what to do and then we need to take a step out in faith to implement His plan!
