God gives us freedom of thought

Titus 1:15 says, “Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.” (Tit. 1:15). Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Phil. 4:8). Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.” (Prov. 23:7). Jesus came to earth, conceived by the Holy Ghost, in the virgin, Mary, born of the virgin, Mary, espoused to Joseph (Matt. 1:18-25). He had brothers and sisters (Mark 6:3). He started His earthly ministry at about the age of thirty (Luke 3:23). And for three and a half years, He healed, did miracles, and forgave sins. And at Passover in 31 A.D., Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, He was buried, and the third day He arose to give us the hope and promise of eternal life in His Holy name. Alleluia and praise the LORD. Amen and Amen.

Captive to Christ

2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” (2 Cor. 10:5). Jesus came to earth, conceived by the Holy Ghost, in the virgin, Mary, born of the virgin, Mary, espoused to Joseph (Matt. 1:18-25). He had brothers and sisters (Mark 6:3). The Human Mind – Part 3

The Human Mind – Where does it come from and what is it capable of? – Part 3

The human mind is an incredible thing. Think about all of the design, inventions, and technology that we have come up with over the last few millennial? Not only that, but we can create art, music, dance and the list goes on. It is incredible and wonderful what the human mind can come up with. But there is also the downside to the human mind. We can be deceived and deceiving, we can create plans and ideas that not only hurt ourselves but others as well. The point is that the human mind is as diverse as anything created here on earth and we ought to understand what it is capable of, so that we can use it properly. This week I will talk about the human mind using the Bible as the go to reference book of choice….cont’d.

Last, regardless of the spiritual forces that act against the Truth, our better judgement and God. The Bible says, “…we do not war according to the flesh…” (2 Corinthians 10:3-6). Follow the Holy Spirit, stay in contact with the true God. In as much as possible, keep yourself around “godly” people. Again, in as much as possible, stay away from negative, T.V, music and internet influences, etc. This world is in an incredible situation right now, where it would seem, almost anything goes. Although the Bible says, “there is nothing new under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 1:9). God has allowed this to happen as the Bible says, “…God gave them over to a debased mind…” (Romans 1:28). Also, “For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie.” (2 Thessalonians 2:11). The point is this world and its ways are not the standard by which a person who is earnestly seeking God and His kingdom should set their own standards. Christ is and always will be that perfect and eternal standard. Follow Him and you will conquer every evil temptation, desire and stronghold in your life. I promise you, you are not alone (2 Kings 6:17, Psalm 28:7, 8; Psalm 18:2, John 14:16)!

The Human Mind – Part 2

The Human Mind – Where does it come from and what is it capable of? – Part 2

The human mind is an incredible thing. Think about all of the design, inventions, and technology that we have come up with over the last few millennial? Not only that, but we can create art, music, dance and the list goes on. It is incredible and wonderful what the human mind can come up with. But there is also the downside to the human mind. Next, the Bible talks about the “prince of the power of the air” (Ephesians 2:2). This is a spiritual force that we cannot see that can “broadcast” thoughts and ideas without direct contact with another person, but even sometimes through people or other communications, like the radio, T.V. and internet. The easiest way to describe this is the little angel and devil sitting on our shoulders, like many of us have seen in so many cartoons. The point is that there is currently a force in this world that exists to persuade people to think and act out evil. The Bible says, “The devil prowls about… looking for who he can devour” and “the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not…” (1 Peter 5:8, 2 Corinthians 4:4). We were first led astray by this voice in the Garden of Eden, through the voice of the serpent, which was undoubtedly the devil (Genesis 3:13, Ezekiel 28:13). So we must be careful when we entertain thoughts in our minds, because they might not always be our own, even if we think they are!

This week I will talk about the human mind using the Bible as the go to reference book of choice.

First, let’s talk about the mind and where it came from initially. God created us, not only did He create our bodies, but He created our minds as well (Genesis 2:7). Scientists have been studying the human mind for a very long time and have been able to dissect it and its “regions”. I have heard that we have a left and right side, some think with the left side more often and some think with the right more often. But there is also the cerebral cortex; this is the place in the brain that is “largely responsible for higher brain functions, including sensation, voluntary muscle movement, thought, reasoning, and memory.” (freedictionary.com). The point is that we have been created with a brain that can “think and reason”. What a wonderful gift. Praise God!
