God’s weakness is stronger than man

1 Corinthians 1:25 says, “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” (1 Cor. 1:25). Jesus came to earth, conceived by the Holy Ghost, in the virgin, Mary, born of the virgin, Mary, espoused to Joseph (Matt. 1:18-25). He had brothers and sisters (Mark 6:3). He started His earthly ministry at about the age of thirty (Luke 3:23). And for three and a half years, He healed, did miracles, and forgave sins. And at Passover in 31 A.D., Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, He was buried, and the third day He arose to give us the hope and promise of eternal life in His Holy name. Alleluia and praise the LORD. Amen and Amen.

Strengths, Weaknesses, Identity – What does it mean to be a true Christian? – Part 3

I’ll be the first to admit I am not the definition of perfection. But as a person who is seeking their identity here on earth what do we do to find it? The last days, months and years of my life have been a journey. First coming back to the Church of my youth after learning a great deal about the world around me and then learning what it really means to be part of the Church and a Christian. And I am sure this will be a lifelong journey at any rate. However, in this article I will talk about finding your identity here on earth, using the Bible as the go to reference book of choice…cont’d.

Last, regardless of strengths or weaknesses that we may have, our identity ought to be in Christ (Genesis 1:27). There are so many pulls in this world for us to develop our own identities, by clothing, music taste, the food you eat, the people you hang out with, etc. But really, if you build your life on the solid foundation of Christ, in one way, you can be and do everything (Philippians 4:13)! We are all given our own talents some more than others and also different, God is not looking for robots. We still have freedom of choice. But He is asking us to put our trust in Him first. He is asking us to let Him lead us in our lives here on earth, with Him and others. I have often heard that God is creating more of His children, in us through Christ (Galatians 3:26). Could we ask for anything more? God is our Father and Christ is our friend. We have a loving God who is building a family that will last for eternity! How would you like to be a part of that plan?

The world would have us believe that our weaknesses are not good. We ought to hide from them and hide them. Not talking about them at all, but many have mentioned and very openly their weaknesses in the Bible. Christ spoke to Paul in 2 Corinthians 13:9, and said “My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” And Paul goes on to say, “Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”! There are many more examples like this including many of the Psalms of David and Jeremiah’s Lamentations. The point is that Christ and God are our strength in our weaknesses. God allows us to have weaknesses so that He is glorified! As difficult as it is at times for our human minds to admit that we need others to live, especially God, it is necessary to maintain a holistic life!

First, let’s talk about our strengths. What do you think about when asked the question; what are your strengths? The list could be a very long one depending on what you define as strength. You could be physically strong, mentally strong, or be strong in different areas of life like caring for others or fixing problems. Superhero movies, books and T.V. shows seem to be as popular as ever today and I have no doubt that there are some that wish they could be like those they watch and read about in books. As I have in the past. There is nothing wrong in having a role model and even Christ said that as believers we would do much more than what He did during His ministry (John 14:12). Is it any wonder we have landed on the moon and have technologies that have made some portions of our daily lives easier and easier. But what does the Bible say about strength? Ephesians 6:10 says, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.”
